We need to be expectant in God. We need to expect that He is going to do something with us, that He is working amongst us, that He's present in our lives bringing us closer to Him. We need to press into Him.
In church, often I fear that we're not expectant enough, that we don't look for what God is doing, that we don't seek Him as we should. God is with us, that's His promise to us, He promises to meet with us, to be our God. Sometimes I think we meet together and we have little idea that God is with us, that He is present, so incredibly present, and He is just waiting for us to look in His direction, to seek Him with our whole hearts so that he can come and change us into what He has designed us to be. So that He can set us free, cover us in His presence, fill us with His Spirit and use us to change the world around us.
In church it feels like God is wanting to do something amazing! Accomplish things that we can't even imagine. It's like God is a mighty river behind a dam. At the moment we see Him trickling through the bottom of the dam and we think God is working in our church, working amongst us and present in our lives.
And He is.
What we need to see is that all kind of situations, circumstances, sin, arguments, unforgiveness, unrepentance and being comfortable with what we have and not seeking God with all our heart has built a dam between us and the mighty river of God He desires us to swim in, the river He wants to flow from us into every area of our lives, our homes and our community.
We need to come before Him, as we are, open to what He wants to do in our lives. We need to repent and ask God to make us more like Him. We need to forgive each other, we need to forgive ourselves and we need to seek God with all that we are asking Him to do all that He has planned in our church and our lives.
We need to be desperate to see God work, to see Him move. We need to long after Him, to know more of Him in our lives.
This is not just an interesting idea, or a biblical study or a nice thought. This is something we need to do. Now.
It's easy enough to say that we're not going to miss what God is doing and wants to do this time, and still miss it. Us not missing it requires us to do something right now. To act, now. To forgive, now. To repent, now.
To seek Him, now!
A tomorrow is something that none of us have ever been promised.
