Why is it that when I was a kid Knight Rider seemed so cool, but now if I watch it..it's just lame apart from the retro aspect?

I personally lost all respect for David Hasslehoff when he became a life guard, we have cars that talk now if you pay enough, and any guy who talks into his wrist watch must be a wacko.

Life isn't always about being happy. It's a weird thing to say, but it's true.

Lots of stuff happens in life and quite a large percentage of that stuff is not going to be stuff that makes you happy. What I also know is that everyone, without exception, struggles, with all sorts of things. I struggle with things, the people I love struggle with things. We all struggle with something.

I am by no means an authority on modern counseling methods, but some of it seems to focus on reaching a place where you can be happy, setting up boundaries so that you are less affected by what's going on around you and limiting the affect others have on your emotional state. I read something in some counseling material that went something like 'Being good doesn't always make you happy' - does that mean playing dirty is acceptable as long as it makes you happy?... That doesn't sit very well with me, but then I guess it's not the whole picture, like I said I'm not an authority on counseling.

Talking about things help, you could sit in a room with any person who will listen and talk things out and it will have a positive effect...I think large percentage of the population go through life not talking about how they really feel and bottling up all kinds of things that really need to come out.

I don't think that 'happiness' can realistically be a primary goal when trying to work things out. I might be way off here, I've only just started thinking about this but the bible never promises that we will be happy.

I truly believe that the answer to every problem we have is Jesus. That might sounds simplistic but I believe it's true. I also think that a human being can't ever get to a place where they are 'sorted out' independently from God. Even with God that's a pretty tall order. We were all created individually by God, in His likeness, if you really believe that then even attempting to exist without Him is ludicrous.

The point of our life is not to be happy, it's to discover God and to get to know Him. God promises peace, he promises hope and assurance of a future with Him, he promises that He'll always be with us, that He'll never leave us or forsake us. He never promised happiness.

That sounds a bit odd and depressing, but it's actually better than anything else He could have promised. Things will always come along in life to hurt us, upset us, hinder us, make things difficult for us. That's a result of our sin and we just can't always be happy in those situations. We can however have His peace and we can have it constantly. We can know that no matter what we face He will be with us and that He will never let us down. We can know that regardless of what happens to us in this life we are promised an eternity with Him where there will be no tears, no sadness and no pain.

What's important is focus. The purpose of this life is to know Jesus. Paul suffered, he was stoned, imprisoned, he probably wasn't always happy but his joy was complete, his peace was in God. Whatever happened to him and where ever he found himself he was content.

I want to be happy, I love being happy and I want those I love to be happy..Hell, I want everyone to be happy! Sadly though I'm not always going to be happy..but I can have peace, even joy, and God with me in every situation.

We don't work right without God. Make sure you're not without Him.

Natalie and I saw this sunset a few times while in Corfu. It was such an amazing restaurant..the food was amazing, the music was chilled out and of course you got a free sunset. One of the worse things about leaving Corfu was that we wouldn't be able to go and be there.

Here's a picture we took.

Ok goobers, the comments are working again. I finally got enough motivation to fix them....so, comment away!! Go for it people.

I'd also like to thank Dave for his blogging while I was away...very Dave those posts were...rock. Speaking of Dave, pray for Him. He's heading up a pais youth team in Huddersfield this year and will need lots of prayer and encouragement...so send him some.

My nose is ever so slightly pealing.

When spell checking this post with Blogger, it didn't find 'goobers' in it's dictionary but suggested the following words:

gophers
coopers
gibbers
sobers
gabbros
Cooper's
givers
Coffers
covers
coppers

All fine and rather amusing words. Gabbros...haha. Also, 'Flogging' was suggested for 'Blogging', 'Blocker' for 'Blogger' and 'Hydrosphere' for 'Huddersfield'. Ha! So, as I have comments working again, say hello and tell me who you are and what you're up to!

I'm still in holiday mode, I want to be swimming, in the sun, on the beach, reading and tearing around a Greek island in a 4x4 and with my girl.. pictures and stuff soon.

If I said I'd send you a postcard....well I got as far as buying one and getting some stamps......

Baby, you can drive my car. Yes, I'm going to be a star. Baby, you can drive my car. And baby? I love you.

(Beep beep, beep beep, yeah)

Wow. Sometimes I wish I could write lyrics like these.

Greeting and salutations, Timbrell fans.

What I find interesting about the cricket, is that it's actually INTERESTING. I enjoy watching the cricket.

Something else I find interesting about this subject, is that when I say "the cricket", people get confused, and ask me what is "the cricket"? I know what "cricket" is, but is "the cricket" any different from that??

Man. The cricket. The football. The snooker.

Am I wrong in prefixing names of sport with the word "the"?

To prevent further grammatical errors and widespread confusion in the future, please let me know what you think at daviddave.com.

That is all.

"Who built the ark? Noah! Noah! Who built the ark? Brother Noah built the ark!"

And here endeth today's sermon on Faith.

May God bless you all.

I must have an infinite amount of wax in my right ear. Lots has come out, but it's still deaf. Argh.

When I open my mouth, I can hear, but when I shut it, I can't. I thought listening with your eyes was a weird concept, but this is just ridiculous.

The good thing about blogging on two blogs, is that I can blog twice as much as I usually would, without boring the same audience.

Who ARE you guys anyway? Does James have different readers to me? I'm sure he has a lot more...

Listen, this isn't a cunning ploy for me to get more people visit my site, I'm just honestly curious. If you have never been to daviddave.com before, would you do me a favour: just pop in and say hi? Thanks :)

James really needs to get his comments sorted out...

I can't believe he's gone for two weeks. I can't believe it. TWO WEEKS. What I would give for two weeks in Corfu. Man.

Three fonts walked into a bar.

The barman sees them, and says:

"Get out of here, you three - we don't want your type in here!"

Ug.

Midday. I just got up. I feel TIRED.

I dreamt I had a temp job last night. I could earn £15.50 an hour. But on the Monday, they wanted me to work from 3:00am to 4:00pm. So I didn't go in.

And that's all I have to say, about that.

Sunday, August 10, 2003

Yeah... hi... I'm back at the mighty TIMBRELL.COM.

And oh my life... James... with blonde hair?! Heheeeeeeeee!!!

It will certainly be interesting to see if I can keep up the postage here over the next two weeks, at the same time as making my blog readable...

But for now, Timbrell fans, I must watch the football. THE football. Not THE cricket. THE football ; )-

If you're bored, make yourself a regular visitor of daviddave.com. And if you're not bored, make yourself a regular visitor of... anyway, you get the idea.

Ok, it's time to go on holiday...at last!! Dave might post while I'm away if ya lucky :)

My hair went blonde today...you'll have to wait to see that!!

Anyway...back in two weeks..tata!

A little update at our website.

It's really hot today. It's some wicked weather, though I didn't know a little heat wave could cause so much trouble! Wack.

Only a few days left until we go on holiday. I can't wait. Two weeks of doing not much, it's going to rock. Rock the corfu kazbaar infact. Whatever.

I'm pretty impressed with these webcam submissions I keep getting emailed. Well done you guys..keep them coming :)

It's amazing to think that God is always with us. No matter where we are or what we're doing God knows. He is with us. If we really knew and understood and were aware that God was with us all the time then we would probably live very different lives.

It's IgniteLite tonight at church, then Ignite on Saturday. Pray for all the kids who come along and for the two weeks of mission going on at church this week and next.

Haha! This cracked me up. Thanks matt.

Thanks to Jenn(y) for a link to my page in honour of the only thing that gets updated here on a regular basis..my webcam.

Nice one Dave. Not sure what was happening here!
